Civil Service Positions at the Physical Plant

Employment opportunities at the UL Lafayette Physical Plant are posted on both the mailroom bulletin board at Martin Hall and within the Physical Plant Main Office at Parker Hall. The University also maintains an online list of open civil service positions throughout the entire UL Lafayette campus. Employment applications can either be obtained online or at the Physical Plant Main Office. Completed applications are accepted from 7:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Monday through Friday at the Physical Plant Main Office for all open positions within our department.

Most positions require a state civil service test score. It is recommended that you take the state civil service exam and submit your test score with your completed application. Once a position is closed, applications are reviewed and interviews are scheduled. Please do not call the Physical Plant regarding a submitted job application - you will be contacted if you are selected for an interview.

Please visit the Louisiana Department of State Civil Service for more information about employment in the state civil service corps.

Student Employment Positions at the Physical Plant Department

Student employment is avaliable to students in need of financial assistance under either our University Work Study program or the U.S. Federal Work Study Program. Eligible students must be in good academic standing with the University for the duration of their student employment. These positions are awarded on a first come, first served basis. University policy limits the employment of undergraduate students to a maximum of 30 hours per week. However, undergraduates have the option of working up to 40 hours per week during semester breaks.

Applications for student employment are taken throughout the semester, with the intention of evaluating and selecting new student workers for the following semester or semester break at the end of the current semester. Employment applications can either be obtained online or at the Physical Plant Main Office. Completed applications are accepted from 7:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Monday through Friday at the Physical Plant Main Office for all open positions within our department.
